Privacy notice
Written in plain English. It covers this marketing website only — the BrickDeck application has its own notice, provided when you are onboarded.
This notice explains what personal information we collect when you use brickdeck.app, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written for the public marketing site, including the beta application form, the Firefly waitlist and the savings calculator.
Who is responsible for your information
BrickDeck is operated by James Hill, trading as BrickDeck, in the United Kingdom. James Hill is the data controller for this website. You can reach us at hello@brickdeck.app, which is the contact point for any question or request about your information.
What we collect, and why
Beta applications
If you apply for the private beta we collect your name, email address, store name, country, marketplace and social links, and the answers you give about your store, workflows and beta application — including anything you write in the free-text fields. We use this to decide who to onboard and in what order, and to reply to you. We do not use it for marketing. We do not sell this information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing; the only others who handle it are the service providers listed below, acting on our instructions.
Being named in a case study is a separate, optional tick-box. If you leave it unticked we will never publish anything about your store; if you tick it, we still ask for your written approval before publishing anything.
Firefly waitlist
If you join the Firefly waitlist we collect your name, email address and, if you provide them, your store name, country and approximate monthly order volume, together with the interest option you selected.
By joining the waitlist you are asking us to email you Firefly development and progress updates, and we use your details to plan Firefly and to send those updates. We will not use the waitlist for unrelated BrickDeck marketing. You can ask to be taken off the waitlist and to stop receiving Firefly updates at any time by emailing hello@brickdeck.app; we will remove you and confirm it. Joining the waitlist is not a purchase, a pre-order or a reservation, and is not a guarantee of a private beta place.
Savings calculator
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The figures you enter are not sent to us or stored anywhere, and we do not see your results.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can deal with your enquiry and any follow-up.
Website measurement
We use Plausible Analytics to record anonymous, non-identifying page views and interaction counts (for example, how often a call to action is used, or which pricing plan is clicked) so we can understand which pages are useful. Plausible is cookieless, EU-hosted, does not track you across sites or devices, and does not build a profile of you. These records contain no cookies, no advertising identifiers and nothing that identifies you. We never send form contents — names, email addresses, store names or free-text answers — to analytics.
Our lawful bases
- Legitimate interests — assessing beta applications, planning Firefly, running and securing the website, and understanding how it is used. We have considered your interests and kept the information to what is genuinely needed.
- Consent — optional extras such as case-study participation. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records to comply with the law.
Who processes it on our behalf
We keep this list short on purpose. Our suppliers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
- Lovable — the platform that builds and hosts this website.
- Supabase — the managed database and authentication service behind Lovable, which securely stores beta applications and Firefly waitlist entries, and any images we upload for articles.
- Sanity — the content platform that stores our published articles and guides. It holds our editorial content, not your form submissions.
- Plausible Analytics — our cookieless website measurement provider, which receives only aggregated, non-identifying usage data.
- Google Workspace / Google — the email service used for the hello@brickdeck.app mailbox, which receives the correspondence you send us and lets us reply.
Some of these suppliers, or the infrastructure they use, are based outside the UK. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK we rely on the transfer safeguards set out in that supplier's data-processing terms. If you would like the current details for a specific supplier, email hello@brickdeck.app and we will tell you.
How long we keep it
- Beta applications — for as long as the private beta programme runs, and for up to 12 months afterwards, then deleted.
- Firefly waitlist — until Firefly is released or the waitlist is closed, or until you ask to be removed.
- Email correspondence — up to 24 months after the matter is closed.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right under UK data protection law to ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to ask us to restrict how we use it, to object to our use of it, and to ask us to transfer it to you or someone else. Some of these rights apply only in certain situations, and occasionally we may need to keep information to meet a legal obligation — if so, we will explain why. Email hello@brickdeck.app and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Children
This website is intended for people running or planning a LEGO reselling business. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be explained here rather than made quietly.
Questions about any of this? Email hello@brickdeck.app and a person will answer.
